Lorenz Sparrenberg: Your Expert in Biotechnology and Data Science

My name is Lorenz Sparrenberg, and as a dedicated biotechnologist and data scientist, I support you with my expertise in scientific research and data analysis in processing complex datasets. I utilize statistical methods and machine learning to gain valuable insights and present them in impressive graphics and visualizations.

After completing my bachelor's and master's degrees in molecular and applied biotechnology at RWTH Aachen, I worked as a research associate at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT) in Sankt Augustin. There, I wrote my doctoral thesis on single-molecule analysis through the evaluation of fluorescence fluctuations.

My Passion

During my studies, my enthusiasm for computer-aided data evaluation in biology was ignited. In an era where modern biology generates enormous amounts of data, programming skills and efficient algorithms are indispensable. I want to share my knowledge with you and integrate it profitably into your projects.

Projects

At the Fraunhofer Institute, I had the opportunity to participate in fascinating projects. Here are some of my personal highlights:

  • PathoSept: Development of an automated microscope for identifying antibiotic resistances through image time series analysis and machine learning. Find more information about the system on the Fraunhofer FIT website here.

  • mSMR (mean Single-Molecule Rate): A method for rapid quality assessment of DNA samples for sequencing based on fluorescence time series analysis. Find my paper on the method here.

In these projects, I made significant contributions to development and implementation, from device development and laboratory experiments to the implementation of evaluation algorithms.
